Linked to Newcastle’s General Hospital, the Henry Wellcome Laboratory for Biogerontology Research was developed by _space group’s team of healthcare and education specialists on behalf of Newcastle University.
We created a new building comprising 600m2 of HSE Category 2 Containment Level Laboratories, including multi-user laboratories, an isotope lab, cold room and cell culture rooms, as well as 500m2 of support and ancillary accommodation for the researchers and administration staff. The new accommodation links to the existing Medical Research Council building and is adjacent to the NHS Centre for the Health of the Elderly and the Wolfson Research Centre.
The facility has provided eminent scientists from around the world with state-of-the-art research facilities for the study of the aging process, at the heart of the city’s groundbreaking research campus for the Institute for Aging and Health.
