Part of Northumbria University’s masterplan to provide a greener and more stimulating campus for its students, staff and the public of Newcastle, the Ellison Building required a phased redevelopment to bring it up to date and in line with the rest of the university, with the redesign of CETL (Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning) entrance comprising the first phase.
_space group were asked to mastermind this development as part of our tenure on the university’s framework and our solution for the CETL entrance was to create a transparent curved glazed frontage that would give the building a dynamic, vibrant feel and open it up to staff, students and members of the public.
