An eight acre brownfield regeneration site directly south of Newcastle Central Station, the Stephenson Quarter masterplanning scheme will transform Newcastle once it is complete, and _space group are proud to provide masterplanning, urban design and full architectural design to the £150m project.
The design includes; in excess of 430,00ft2 of commercial offices with retail shops at ground floor and underground parking, a 250 bed 4 star plus hotel, post office distribution centre, 350 space multi-storey car park, 80 bed boutique hotel, major art gallery and exhibition centre, 150 apartments, town houses, restaurants and a managed business centre all set in a network of creative streetscapes with a mix of vistas, unfolding views, open squares and vantage points.
This scheme required sensitive interrogation of the area, a designated conservation area containing four Grade II listed buildings, and consultation with CABE, conservation officers, English Heritage, Network Rail and Government Office North East.
