Sarah Thackray is Impact and Strategy Director at BeaconHouse Events, where she helps shape the company’s vision, drives sustainable growth and impact, and supports financial resilience through strategy, partnerships and governance. A linguist at heart and a perfectionist by nature, Sarah is originally from London and moved to Newcastle to study modern languages at Newcastle University. Having fallen in love with the region, she now lives on the coast with her family.

Having previously lived and worked in both Spain and France, Sarah began her career in the North East as a relocation consultant with IBM. Her strengths in project management and communication led to a natural transition into the events industry, and she has since spent more than 20 years working across a wide range of conferences and events in the UK and the Middle East.

After delivering events across almost every sector and industry, Sarah co-founded BeaconHouse Events in 2014. Passionate about driving sustainable change within the events industry, she spearheads the agency’s ESG strategy, founded the North East Event Sustainability Supply Chain Roundtable, and has been named one of the UK’s leaders in event sustainability by micebook and isla.
