02

Embodied carbon

03

Building data and who owns it

04

Materials and reuse

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Shift free to attend?

Yes. Shift 2026 is free to attend. Places are limited, so you'll need to book in advance.

Who is Shift for?

Shift is for everyone with an interest in how we respond to climate change and create meaningful change. Our audience brings together people from across the built environment and beyond, including architects, designers, engineers, students, policymakers, clients, business leaders and people working in sustainability.

Whether you work in the industry or simply want to be part of the conversation, you’re welcome at Shift.

Where is Shift taking place?

Shift 2026 will take place at The Catalyst, Newcastle Helix, in Newcastle upon Tyne. The venue is well connected by Metro, train, bus and car, with Newcastle Central Station around a 10-minute walk away.

What time does it start and finish?

Shift is a full-day event. Registration will open in the morning at 8:30, with talks and sessions running throughout the day before the conference closes in the late afternoon. Full timings will be shared in the final programme closer to the event.

Will food be provided?

Yes. Food and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, with time built into the programme to eat and recharge.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The Catalyst is an accessible venue. We want Shift to be welcoming and comfortable for everyone, and accessibility information will be shared ahead of the event. Please contact us if you have any questions in the meantime.

What happens if tickets sell out?

If tickets sell out, we recommend joining the waiting list. Places can become available as plans change, and we’ll release any returned tickets where possible.

How does the after-party work?

This year, we’re collaborating with People Planet Pint for a networking social after Shift. It’s a chance to keep the conversation going, meet more people and spend some time together away from the stage. Venue details will be announced soon.

Will talks be available afterwards?

We capture content from Shift each year, with talks, interviews and conversations shared afterwards through the Shift website and across our LinkedIn. You can also revisit content from previous years in the Shift Archive.

One day to hear different perspectives, meet people working on the same problems and leave with new ideas to take forward.
